Shah Rukh Khan has put an end to speculation that his upcoming action thriller "King" might see its release date pushed, confirming the film will arrive in theatres as planned on December 24, 2026.
The actor addressed the buzz during an #AskSRK session on X on September 15, where a fan asked whether "King" felt "sandwiched" between major releases and whether the date would change. Shah Rukh replied that it was "not at all" the case, joking that other films were merely the bread while his was the tasty filling in the middle. "King" is set to open a week after Hollywood tentpoles "Avengers: Doomsday" and "Dune: Part Three," which both release on December 18, and the same day as Nagarjuna's "King" and Nandamuri Balakrishna's "Dada" in the Telugu market.
During the session, Shah Rukh also opened up about the physical toll of the shoot, revealing that a series of injuries had repeatedly disrupted filming. He wrote that he'd had "a few injuries while shooting" that forced production to "start stop many times," but added that he had since recovered and the film was "nearly all done." The update follows earlier reports, including one in Midday last month, that a shoulder injury had paused the shoot and that the actor needed a couple of weeks of rest before returning to set.
Asked about the trailer, Shah Rukh asked fans to be patient, noting the film was still around 100 days from release and that its promotional rollout would come in due course. He also spoke about reuniting with Deepika Padukone and Rani Mukerji on the project, calling the experience "the best ever."
Directed by Siddharth Anand, "King" marks Shah Rukh Khan's first theatrical release since 2023's "Jawan."
